The Horizon network of the popular cryptocurrency project Harmony was hacked. It is stated that $ 100 million worth of crypto money was stolen in the attack.

Although cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology are becoming more and more known day by day, cyber attacks that cause millions of dollars to be stolen continue without slowing down. Now, an attack has been carried out against the US-based world popular crypto money project Harmony. 

In the statements made, it was stated that the attack was aimed at Harmony 's Horizon bridge. In the announcement made by the Harmony team last night, it was stated that as a result of the attack, approximately 100 million dollars of crypto money was stolen by the attackers. In addition, after the news, the network's native token Harmony (ONE) fell by around 10%  .

First, let's talk briefly about Harmony. Harmony, a US-based project, is described on its website as an 'open' and 'fast' blockchain . The network is stated to run Ethereum applications with 2-second transactions and 100x lower fees. It is reported that the bridge named Horizon provides Harmony 's Ethereum connection .

In the statements made by the team, it was stated that the attack did not affect the Bitcoin bridge, while working with national authorities and other authorities to identify the criminals and recover the stolen funds . In the announcement made on Twitter, the wallet address of the attackers was also shared. It was also stated that the transactions on the bridge were stopped and the exchanges were contacted in order to prevent the attackers from making new moves .

 

Besides, popular cryptocurrencies such as ETH, DAI, BUSD, and USDC were among the stolen assets. Also, according to Investing.com, the biggest loss as a result of the attack was Metaverse software company AAG Ventures with $84 million . specified. Later, in a statement made by AAG, it was stated that 74 million dollars worth of stolen assets were frozen. 

Finally, a statement came from the experts about the attack, which has not yet been explained. According to Uzmancoin , experts stated that multi-signature wallets (multisig) that allow assets to be uploaded to the bridge may have been compromised.
