Short Introduction

Chiliz (CHZ) is a blockchain that allows sports and e-sports fans to have unique experiences with their favorite teams. The Socios.com fan engagement platform is built from the ground up on the Chiliz blockchain infrastructure and uses CHZ as its exclusive on-platform currency. Socios.com allows fans to purchase branded Fan Tokens from some of the biggest and most renowned sports teams in the world including FC Barcelona, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, AS Roma, Galatasaray, Atlético de Madrid, among others. Fan Tokens bought on Socios.com allow users to influence their teams via popular vote and become eligible for engagement-based team rewards and recognition. All Fan Tokens are minted using the Chiliz blockchain and all on-platform voting is executed as a series of smart contracts which run through the Chiliz blockchain.

 

Growth Narrative

Before Chiliz, fans of a team could only interact with it by buying tickets to attend games, or merchandise such as jerseys. It was for example not possible for them to have a say in the strategic choices to be made, or any other matter. Buying shares in a sports organization, especially a large one, is completely out of reach for most fans. The Chiliz project was therefore created to address this problem by implementing a system to facilitate interactions between teams and their fans. Using this system, each fan is able to buy, according to his budget, a certain number of tokens related to his favorite team. Then, all the fans are able to have their say in proportion to the number of tokens held. They are, in a way, micro-shareholders.

With the arrival of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar at the end of 2022, Chiliz will be more than ever in the spotlight thanks to the partnerships it has already established and those to come by then. The fans will be in a frenzy and will want to support their national team as much as possible. In addition to showing their support for their team by investing in fan tokens, an asset that can potentially increase in value, the fan also gets voting rights and opinion as well as potential rewards from their team.

Apart from this mid-term perspective of the World Cup, Chiliz plays the long-term game by partnering with e-sport teams, whose potential is becoming more and more apparent. Indeed, videogames in general is a larger industry than Film & Music industries combined; and in 2021, the global e-sports market was valued at just over 1.08 billion U.S. dollars, an almost 50 percent increase from the previous year.

The Chiliz team is composed of more than 250 professionals and is constantly growing. Among the people leading the project we can mention the CEO Alexandre Dreyfus, a serial entrepreneur who has launched multiple businesses across the travel and entertainment industry, like Winamax, the first French Online Poker Room and Sports Betting website. As the COO they have Emma Diskin, an award-winning marketing & communications professional with extensive, senior-level experience in corporate communications, consumer brand publicity, branded and social media marketing across sport, entertainment, media, and gaming. To carry out the project, one of the most important parts is the technological aspect, where we can mention Thibaut Pelletier, the CTO, an engineer with 18 years of experience in IT.

When it comes to partners Chiliz is not left out. With 120+ partners, it is the world’s leading blockchain fintech provider for sports & entertainment. Thanks to its partnerships in Football with LaLiga, the UEFA, and the Serie A, Chiliz is way ahead of the market and the competition. Even for the competitions for which Chiliz does not have an exclusivity contract yet, many partnerships are already in place with the biggest teams, including the PSG for the Ligue 1, or national teams like Italy or Argentina, to name a few.
